it would be nice to get some "figures" from cash rich Muslim countries as to what they are donating to their Muslim brothers in cases like Pakistan? The feeling is that Western aid is always targetting to fill the void - in good times and bad - and the "political unity" does not extend to "aid"?

Da Vatican has plenty of money, why don't it give some?

what about the people in our country. Yes our country who are living below the poverty line. Electric off, short of food etc. Drop the irish pride and talk about our own issues first. We can help others when we get our own house in order.

I have sent my donation to Presentation Sisters, Monasterevin, Co Kildare. The money goes directly to Pakistan where the Sisters are on the ground. No incidental expenses.

I think that ad looking for forty euro is sending out the wrong message. I think if they asked for say twenty euro there would be more donations and possibly most donations would be about fifty euro.

ceos are too well paid using charities to get big salaries regulation badly needed

The argument is totally inhuman and illogical.natural disasters r generally beyond the realm of planning, forecasts and predictions hence catrina in the USA ,the only superpower did need help and the world did respond.not helping the people is tatamount to saying that a child being abused by his parents doesnt deserve help because his own parents r responsible.politics aside r we not all human

is it true that at least two thirds of all donations go in admin expenses etc

Pakistan spends billions on weapons. We spend multiples of that on private banks. Who has the moral highground?

Derry Chambers, Cork

the president of pakistan is known as mr 10 persent for obvious reasons.a country that spends billions on arms and little on its people should not be handing out the begging bowl.
